Treasuries Little Changed In Early Trading Ahead Of Economic News
Tuesday, June 26, 2007 8:45:31 AM - The treasury market was little changed during the first few minutes of Tuesday's trading. The early uncertainty came as traders awaited key economic information due out later in the morning. The yield on the benchmark 10-year treasury hovered below the 5.1% mark, after a second day of buying on Monday drove yields to 2-week lows.
At 10 am Eastern Time, the government will announce statistics on sales of newly-built homes. This will follow-up on data announced on Monday, which showed a slight decline in sales of previously-owned homes. Meanwhile, a closely-watched report on consumer confidence will also come out during the mid-morning.
In the opening stages of Tuesday's trading, the 10-year yield was up less than a basis point to 5.080%.
